Anita Drujon was born in New York, has lived on both U.S. coasts and in St. Germaine en Laye, France. She currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she works and teaches.
Her paintings are imbued with a subtle balance between unity and dispersion, representation and abstract, light and colors, play or constructions, precisions and sparkle. Some have a latent sensuality obtained by the marriage of oil and wax. Drujon masterfully handles the art of falsely subdued tones in the midst of which one discovers an increasing haunting brilliance.
The artist graduated summa cum laude with both a MFA from the University of Miami and a BFA at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. She has held faculty and/or administrative positions at Florida Atlantic University, Broward Community College, The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, Pro-Arts Consortium in Boston, and in St. Germaine en Laye.
Drujon founded, directed and taught at the Arts Workshop, Inc. in South Natick, MA. She has held positions as a gallery assistant, set designer, and graphic designer. Drujon has been recognized as an outstanding teacher in all areas of two-dimensional work, painting foremost, and including life drawing, design, color theory, illustration and mixed media. To her credit, Drujon's students elected her to Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
Anita Drujon has won several awards for her art. Most recently, in 2001, she was named "Best Local Artist" in Broward and Palm Beach, bt the New Times Press.
